1948 DOOLING ARROW
Bob Farmer Team EMBO, Detroit, MI
The ARROW was the final tether car produced by the Dooling Brothers, with sales beginning in the spring of
1948. These cars, especially when powered by the potent Dooling .61, were competitive "right out of the box", as many were sold race ready. This example is complete with an early 8 fin ignition Dooling .61 (S/N 3826) driving the rear wheels through a bevel gear gearbox. The engine turns through smoothly through the gearbox with excellent compression. The car is complete with ORIGINAL: brass fuel tank, guillotine fuel shut off, needle valve, Fairabend style front axle, panhandle mount and handle, exhaust bezel, coil, condenser, and wiring. The fiberglass body is finished in its original, as raced paint, with some age related light imperfections.
This car was owned and raced by Bob Farmer of Detroit, MI. Bob and his friend Emery Schneck raced together as Team EMBO (EMery & BOb). They had identical Arrows with reverse paint jobs; Schneck's car was white with a red scallop #71. A photo posted here from the October 1949 issue of RAIL & CABLE NEWS shows the EMBO team with their Arrows. A search of race results from the Detroit and Ohio area in RAIL & CABLE circa 1948-1949 will show the success of TEAM EMBO.
This is a beautiful example of a real-deal AS RACED ORIGINAL DOOLING ARROW, with provenance. It displays beautifully!
CONSTANTINE YONAITES' MARTIN FLASH
HAND BUILT BODY; McCOY POWER
This martin Flash is an example of the talent of Constantine Yonaites, who owned and raced the car with the Chicago Mite Car Club at the Calumet Park Field House, as well as with the National Mite Race Car Association (NMRCA) on 1/80th mile mite car tracks throughout the Midwest. Yonaites built the wooden buck and created the body out of 12-14 layers of fine cheesecloth stretched tightly over the buck and saturated with wallpaper paste. After the wallpaper paste dried, the edges were trimmed and the tops painted; a true "labor of love! The McCoy .19 engine has excellent compression driving the rear wheels; the driveline turns through smoothly. The Martin Flash fuel tank contains a venturi tube embedded in it for air flow directly to the engine. The car is 10" long minus the tail skid. The workmanship and engineering on this car are outstanding; there are still, after all of these years, no cracks or damage to the body! A newspaper photo from 1955 is included in the gallery. This is an exceptional complete, original, custom bodied Constantine Yonaites Martin Flash custom mite tether car; a rare time capsule indeed!

This hot rod features a Fairabend style front axle and custom fuel tank car; it is powered by a McCoy.60 ignition engine with a CUSTOM HIGH COMPRESSION HEAD; the driveline turns through smoothly, the engine has excellent compression. 1940 SPEED KING
~ SOLD ~
DAN HOLLY INDUSTRIES
Designed and built by Dan Holly of HOLLY CARBURETOR and SPEED EQUIPMENT fame, a Speed King established a speed record at the New York Coliseum in 1939. This 18" long car was run after the war powered by a 1945 Kencraft .60 engine making this car something of an early "hot rod" ! The car is complete; the tires are hard but not cracked. The KEN ENGINE has excellent compression. The graphics are hand lettered. While the Speed King cars are similar to the Speed Chief's of the era, they are not as available as they were produced in much smaller numbers and are quite rare. Look carefully at the details of this car, it is a truly original, unique early post-war racer with a Ken powering it for a post-war revival !
1947 McCOY INVADER
10 FIN DOOLING .61 POWERED !
~ SOLD ~
The McCoy Invader was introduced by Duro-Matic in 1947. This fiberglass bodied car is powered by a
10 Fin Dooling .61 which turns through smoothly with excellent compression. The car is wired with the coil and condenser, the pan handle is in place. The rear wheels and tires are C-R (Curly), the fronts McCoy; the tires are hard but not cracked. The old paint shows age patina; the decals are period correct (Glen was clearly the owner/driver) The car is missing its battery box and fuel tank, a common occurrence as they were probably used in Glen's next car. The body and pan have no cracks or damage. This is a real-deal, as raced 10 fin DOOLING .61 powered McCoy Invader.
1939 DOOLING MERCURY DELUXE
~ SOLD ~
The second car produced by the Dooling Brothers was the Mercury Deluxe, commonly known as the rear drive. This exceptional example features the four wheel coil spring suspension and cast aluminum body, nose, and frame with formed aluminum pan and hood which were probably added after the car was retired from the track. A leather covered seat back and a custom grill are in place. The front and rear wheels and tires are original Gardners; the tires are hard with some flat spotting. The ignition Dennymite engine drives the rear wheels through bevel gears; the engine has good compression, the driveline turns through smoothly, the fuel tank, coil, condenser, wiring and shut off switch are in the car. The body has no cracks or damage. This ORIGINAL un-restored "Rear Drive" has outstanding 85 year old patina. The car is simply outstanding !
